In the period 14-16.09.2020 the city of Kirklareli, Turkey was held a seminar on "Measures and activities to improve coniferous forests in the cross-border region" in the frames of the project "Forest Health".
The overall goal of the project is to build a monitoring network for the population dynamics of bark beetles in artificially created conifers in the region of Burgas and Kirklareli by conducting specialized research and establishing the distribution of bark beetles in artificially created conifers. In the Turkish part of Strandzha, the predominance of biological pest control is given, as the chemical one is limited. Individual areas are isolated so that one pest cannot spread to other parts of the forest. To combat the dangerous bark beetle Ips sexdentatus, the practice of immediately cutting down the affected trees without waiting for a special permit has been established.
